This notice covers the application forms on /community and /data. They are run by Ilnar Salimzianov (Taruen). Contact: contact@taruen.com.

Speaker applications

What we collect: your name, contact details, country, sex, languages, voice sample, your answers to the consent questions, and the link you arrived from.

Why: to assess your language level, to keep an even split of women and men in the dataset, to contact you about the project you applied for and, only if you opt in, to contact you about future paid language data projects. We rely on your consent.

Who receives it: your voice sample and sex, without your name or contact details, may be shared with the organisations that commission and fund the current dataset, to confirm speaker selection. Your voice sample is not included in the dataset.

Paid recordings: these are covered by a separate written agreement that you receive before recording. It explains how the recordings are used, including that some may be published openly.

Where: your data is stored on Amazon Web Services servers in Sweden and accessed by Taruen from Türkiye. The organisations that receive the sample may process it in other countries.

How long: we delete application data within 12 months. If you take part in a project, your signed agreement says how long that data is kept.

Your choices: you can withdraw your consent, or ask to see, correct or delete your data, at any time by writing to contact@taruen.com with your reference code. We will delete your data and ask the recipients to delete any sample they received.

Applicants must be 18 or older.

Visitor statistics

We count visits to this website with Umami, which we run ourselves on a server in Germany. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses or other personal data: only pages viewed, the referring site, and browser, device, country and city. When you submit a form, it also records that a form was sent, with the languages and the link you arrived from, but nothing you typed.

Data buyer enquiries

We store your name, organisation, email and request on the same servers to reply to you. Write to us if you want them deleted.
